Welcome to this blog. I'm a teacher at the E.O.I Dos Hermanas. This has been created to enhance your knowledge of English. Apart from the lessons, this blog can also be used as an extra tool. Animals

Apart from reading this text in class, we worked on the text on page 67. W also learn some vocabulary about farm and wild animals. We revised the first conditional and started section 6C. Finally, we did a grammar exercise all together.

Infinitive and gerund

This week we have been learning when to use verbs in infinitive or in ing-form (sections 5A & 5B).
On Wednesday, we learnt some vocabulary to talk about our city, we did a listening comprehension exercise, a writing exercise, we watched the video about Mark and Allie and I gave you a very useful handout for the oral test (if you didn't come to class, ask me for the handout next Monday).

Unit 5


Last week, we revised how to use comparatives and superlatives in English. On Monday 12th, we started unit 5. Tomorrow, we'll finish section 5A and we'll start 5B (about -ing). We'll also continue practising English sounds.

Homework due to 19th April:
- Write 10 (minimum) pieces of advice or tips about what to do and what not to do on a first romantic date. Use as much imagination as possible!!!

Twenty First Week

This week, we have learnt about comparatives in English and we have done quite a lot of oral practice. We did a reading comprehension exercise and some grammatical exercises about comparatives and present perfect vs past simple (ask me for the handouts next Monday in case you didn´t come on Wednesday).

Twentieth Week

On Wednesday, we listened to a man talking about his cat phobia (p.77). We corrected the handout about differences between Present Perfect and Past Simple. Then, we saw the difference between words that are pronounced with /I/ or with /aI/. Finally, we did some oral practice.
Homework:
- Read text on pp. 44 & 45. Do 1 GRAMMAR comparatives, as ... as, less... than ... on page 44.

Nineteenth Week

Last week we focused on speaking and listening comprehension exercises most of the time. On Wednesday, I gave you a handout to practise Present Perfect vs Past Simple (we´ll correct it tomorrow) and another handout modelling situations in a restaurant.
This week, you'll continue with your "theatre performances" and we´ll do many oral activities.

We started Unit 4 sections A and B. After that, we went straight away to Unit 7B to include since and for. See exercises in Grammar Bank.

Seventeenth Week

This week we have done a lot of oral practise and introduce the use of Present Perfect in English. We also saw vocabulary on clothes.

Sixteenth Week

On Monday, we watched the video about Mark and Allie and learned some verbs followed by prepositions. James did a very interesting presentation about the Chinese New Year. On Wednesday, we were in the computer room. We corrected pages 38 & 39, talk about the March test, and practised conversations in a restaurant.
Next week, we are going to start looking at a new grammatical structure.

Fifteenth Week

Congratulations for surviving the FUTURE in English!!!!. Last sessions we talked about how to express offers, instant decisions and promises (section 3C). We did some oral practise in pairs and finally talked about dreams (interesting lesson).
On Monday, we´ll finish section 3D, watch the video about Mark and Allie and learn how to write an informal letter in English.

Fourteenth Week

Last week, we practised how to ask questions in English, we did several listening comprehension exercises, a vocabulary test and finally, we learnt how to express:

Thirteenth Week

This week, we revised how to form questions in English and started learning about the future (going to and present continuous) in section 3A in your books. On Wednesday, we did a listening comprehension exercise and a vocabulary test (students in 2ºB, I need to know your results!)

HOMEWORK, due to Monday 18th January.
Imagine an annoying friend wants to come to your house this weekend. You are really tired after Christmas holidays and he/she is the last person you feel like seeing. Write him/her a brief email telling you are very busy and the things you are going to do. Use your imagination!!
For example:

"I'm very sorry, but on Friday afternoon I'm going to a meeting with UE members to talk about environmental problems"
